The Hidden Map of Madrid. Archiprix 2015 Workshop
The hidden map of Madrid from Andrea Savard-B on Vimeo.
After the financial and urban tsunami happened in the Spanish state, the city’s speculative development model lead behind a trail in the territory. Empty plots, unfinished neighbourhoods, buildings with social programs never leaving the drawing board. Behind the wave of construction that has affected the entire country, it can be perceive in the same way as if a hurricane would have gone through, the ruins of a sprawling system under the raising up of empty plots.
Subverting the touristic map, we proposed ‘The Hidden Map of Madrid’, a ironic mapping of the urban failures in Madrid. Complementary to the map, a guide for trespassing was provided. The hidden map of Madrid incentivized civil disobedience as a productive act for citizens to re-engage with those structures.
